Props Research

For our music video, we do not plan to use many props due to being a narrative style, therefore mainly focusing on the characters. As our target audience is of the 16 - 24 age group, we want to make it relatable to them, so we are planning to use props of everyday purpose that have a purpose in our storyline. Additionally, due to costs, our resources are limited.

Smoke Flares

Our main prop used is smoke flares, which will ideally be used in the shots during the chorus. They juxtapose with the idea of basic and everyday props, however, are used in festivals, so are still relatable to our target audience.

Train Tickets

In one of the shots comparing the main character's memory to now, he is at the train station as it is the most common way of transport for this age group.

Money

Coinciding with the train tickets, money is a necessity, so is unsurprising that it would be included.

Notebook and Pen

As he is on his own, the main character is shown to be scribbling lyrics in a notebook, before throwing it down in frustration. Conventionally, when people feel alone, they write down their thoughts as a coping mechanism. Therefore, we wanted to include this idea to perhaps relate to the viewer.

Phone

To incorporate the current society, our young target audience will relate to phones, as nowadays it is seen as the norm for everyone to own their own mobile.

Tube Map

To further develop to idea of them travelling, we decided to also include a tube map. As well as relating to the teen audience, the map will be used in the different shots to emphasise the main character having a good time with his brother, compared to being on his own.

Clapper Board

Although not serving any purpose for the promotional video, we thought about including a clapper board at the beginning of the video before the music starts, to imitate a real production.
